Magic Levitation

‘Dreamer first, photographer second’ - that’s how the talented photographer Luke Sharratt says about himself.

A few weeks ago we got acquainted with Luke Sharratt and now we’re starting the photo story together. Luke will show how he shoots his amazing artistic portraits and how he creates various photo illusions such as levitation working with Snapheal.

This is just a preview of some works by Luke. Stay tuned. We’ll post the whole photo story very-very soon!

Every time we pick up TOP position on Mac App Store we don’t lose the chance to boast about it. Hurray! Snapheal is now #3 Photo app for Mac. Thanks guys for your love!

Using Snapheal as external editor

It’s not a secret that we plan to add plug-in support pretty soon, allowing you to use Snapheal as plug-in in Lightroom, Aperture and other apps. Before this is complete, you can still use Snapheal as external photo editor in Aperture and iPhoto. Check how-to below.

APERTURE

  • Go to the Aperture menu, and click on “Preferences”.
  • In the “Export” tab, click “Choose” beside the “External Photo Editor” option.
  • Select Snapheal from your Application folder.

This will set Snapheal up as your External Editor. To use it, simply right-click on an image and choose “Edit in Snapheal”, use the “Photos” menu option, or the keyboard shortcut Cmd + Shift + O.

iPHOTO

  • Go to the iPhoto menu, and click on “Preferences”
  • In the “Advanced” tab, click on the menu labelled “Edit Photos”
  • Choose Snapheal and click “open”

This will set Snapheal up as your External Editor. To use it, simply right-click on an image and choose “Edit in External Editor”, or the “Edit” button in iPhoto’s bottom toolbar.

Once you’re done editing, go to file and export your photos back to iPhoto or Aperture.
Have fun editing.

2012 Checklist

image

2012 has been absolutely amazing and full of memorable moments for us. We are very excited to see how Snapheal has evolved and how rapidly the number of our community has grown over this year.

In 2012 we released 3 updates. In overall, we’ve  included  more that 20 new tools and features. Our designer created the news UI from the scratch and engineers never got tired to develop better erasing and retouch algorithms. Each version gained the 1st position in Photography category on MacAppStore. The successful updates inspired us to move forward and make the app even more powerful and handy.

For our awesome community we launched SnapJam. It turned out to be one of a kind rewards program ever created by software developers. We’re happy to see more and more Snapheal users join SnapJam.

For the coming year we have tremendous plans and looking forward to realizing all of them.

Thanks guys for your support. Thanks for inspiring us. We wish you all the best in 2013. Happy holidays! Talk to you soon in 2013.

Sincerely,
Snapheal team

When we do the math, you get free apps!

It’s not a secret that most of developers will offer you their apps on sale for the holiday weekend. We did that as well and lowered the price for Snapheal, FX Photo Studio and ColorStrokes by over 50%.

But there is something you won’t get from others. As a big Thank You to all of you, we gift free Mac app to anyone who already owns any two of our other photo apps for Mac.

So if you have Snapheal, get either ColorStrokes ($2) or FX Photo Studio ($10) and we’ll send you a free copy of the app you don’t have yet.

Happy Thanksgiving!

New look and feel

It’s never too early to get the new look for X-Mas. So (hopefully) by the end of November or early December at its latest, we’ll release Snapheal 2.1 with the new UI, created from the scratch and tons of new powers that are hidden under it.

Stay tuned!

The next video of the series Snapheal vs Photoshop by Simon Catesby.

The pro photographer compares how Snapheal and Photoshop deal with the same task: erasing multiple and big objects.  The results are very impressive. Check it out.

Snapheal on Mashable

Things happen every day, but extraordinary things don’t happen often. I can bet that guys from Apple Inc, EA or Zynga don’t get much surprised when featured by Mashable, but for us at MacPhun this is a BIG DAY.

On November 2, review of Snapheal was posted on Mashable. Fran Berkman tested the app, liked it and shared the feedback with millions of Mashable readers. This is awesome.

Check Fran’s full review here. I am off to have a drink or two - this deserves celebration!
